Hi
I have a PhD in linguistics and marketing, and this site is a way to share my research. I study patterns in the language of email, specifically ones that lead to more successful campaigns (although I’m also interested in what kind of language doesn’t work well). This means not just the words and phrases that lead to higher open rates, but also the grammar and parts of speech that do so. Are verbs really that important in email marketing? Should you really never use adverbs? Let’s find out together.
Am I evil?
Yes, I am. Nah. The name of this site is just for fun. My website is eviljoemcveigh.com, so this blog’s title matches that. And it just sounds cool.
What’s with the upside down “e” in the title?
That’s the symbol for the schwa sound, which is the most common sound in the English language. And no, English doesn’t even have a letter for its most common sound. Seriously.
p.s. Please bear with me as I make tweaks to this site’s overall look.
